Toros Fall To CSULA In Final Regular Season Game, 67-74

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – In a game that showcased the intense rivalry and competitive spirit of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros were unable to maintain their first-half lead, ultimately falling to the Cal State LA Golden Eagles with a final score of 67-74.
 
With this loss, the Toros hold onto the CCAA Regular Season Championship for the fourth time in school history with an overall record of 22-6 and CCAA record of 16-5. The Toros are official crowned co-championships with Cal State San Bernardino.
 
The Toros built a narrow three point lead going into the half, 34-31. Cal State LA turned the tables in the second period, outscoring the Toros 43-33.
 
Alex Garcia led the scoring for the Toros with 16 points, shooting an efficient 6-12 from the field, including 1-5 from three-point range, and adding 3-4 from the free-throw line. Garcia's contribution wasn't just limited to scoring; he also pulled down six rebounds, dished out two assists, and recorded a block, demonstrating his all-around impact on the game.
 
Jakob Alamudun followed closely, contributing 14 points. Alamudun excelled at the free-throw line, making 8-13 attempts. He also matched Garcia's rebounding effort with six boards, and four assists, showcasing his resilience and ability to contribute in various facets of the game.
 
Jeremy Dent-Smith added 12 points for the Toros, hitting 3-11 shots from the field, including 1-4 from beyond the arc, and 5-7 from the free-throw line. Dent-Smith's presence was also felt defensively, where he recorded an impressive three steaks, alongside five assists.
 
Andre Ball and DJ Guest played crucial roles as well, with Ball scoring 10 points and Guest adding eight points, including two three-pointers. Ball's defensive efforts resulted in two blocks and two steals, and Guest contributed across the board with six rebounds and three assists, underscoring the depth of talent within the Toros lineup.
 
As they close the CCAA regular season schedule, to Toros prepare for the CCAA Championship Tournament in San Bernardino. As regular season co-champions, the Toros received a bye on the first day of competition and will compete in the second round of the tournament on Friday, March 8th at 5:30pm.
