CARSON, Calif. — The No. 12 Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros continued their undefeated streak with an 81-61 victory over Stanislaus State on Saturday afternoon at the Torodome. The Toros, now 10-0 overall and 3-0 in CCAA play, used a dominant second half and a balanced offensive attack to secure the win.
The first half was closely contested, with the Toros trailing 18-16 at the end of the first quarter. Nala Williams kept Dominguez Hills within reach with six points in the opening period, while Asia Jordan added four points and five rebounds. In the second quarter, the Toros found their rhythm offensively, outscoring the Warriors 22-14 to take a 38-32 lead into halftime. Williams contributed nine of her game-high 25 points in the second quarter, helping the Toros gain momentum heading into the break.
Dominguez Hills extended their lead in the third quarter, outscoring Stanislaus State 19-15. Amoree Ferrel came off the bench to provide a spark, scoring seven of her 16 points in the period, including a key three-pointer that helped the Toros create separation. The defense also stepped up, forcing six turnovers in the quarter to stifle the Warriors' offense.
In the final quarter, the Toros pulled away for good with a 24-14 scoring advantage. Williams and Jordan continued to lead the way, while Teagan Thurman controlled the boards, finishing the game with nine rebounds. The team showcased its depth, with four players scoring in double figures and the bench contributing 34 points.
Williams led all scorers with 25 points, adding six rebounds, five assists, and five steals in a complete performance. Ferrel provided a huge lift off the bench with 16 points, while Jordan posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Thurman added nine points, nine rebounds, and three steals to round out the Toros' key contributors.
The Toros will return to action next Saturday, December 14, at 1:00 p.m., hosting Hope International in an exhibition game at the Torodome.
