Toros Stay Perfect with 72-51 Victory Over Cal State Monterey Bay

CARSON, Calif. — The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team continued their undefeated streak, defeating Cal State Monterey Bay 72-51 in their CCAA home opener on Thursday night at the Torodome. With the win, the Toros improved to 9-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

The Toros took control early, outscoring the Otters 19-15 in the first quarter. Asia Jordan paced the offense with six points in the frame, while Nala Williams and Teagan Thurman contributed key baskets to establish momentum.

In the second quarter, the Otters briefly closed the gap, but Dominguez Hills' defense held strong, forcing eight turnovers in the period. The Toros scored 13 points while limiting Monterey Bay to 17, maintaining a narrow 32-29 lead heading into halftime.

Dominguez Hills dominated the third quarter, outscoring the Otters 21-8 behind a stellar effort from Jordan and Christina Jones. The duo combined for 12 points in the period, helping the Toros pull away and enter the final frame with a commanding 53-37 lead.

In the fourth quarter, the Toros closed out the game in style, outscoring Monterey Bay 19-11. Williams added five points in the quarter, including a three-pointer that sealed the win late in the contest. The Toros' defense forced 14 turnovers and limited the Otters to just 36.8% shooting for the game.

Leading the way for the Toros was Asia Jordan, who finished with a game-high 21 points, three rebounds, and four assists. Nala Williams contributed across the board with 14 points, six rebounds, eight assists, and six steals. Christina Jones provided a strong presence in the paint with 11 points and nine rebounds, while Teagan Thurman added eight points and four boards to round out the balanced offensive attack.

The Toros remain undefeated and will look to extend their winning streak this Saturday when they host Stanislaus State at 1 p.m. in another key CCAA matchup.
