Toros Dominate Fresno Pacific in Non-Conference Matchup, 79-54

FRESNO, Calif. — Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team delivered a commanding performance, securing a 79-54 victory over Fresno Pacific on Tuesday afternoon at the Special Events Center. With the win, the Toros improved to 3-3 on the season, led by a dominant showing from forward Adam Afifi and sharpshooting from the perimeter.

The Toros set the tone early in the first half, jumping out to a 14-6 lead by the 13:16 mark after Jeremy Dent-Smith drained back-to-back three-pointers. Alex Garcia added a three-pointer at 4:07 to give the Toros a 27-21 advantage as they maintained their offensive rhythm. Afifi dominated the boards, securing key rebounds and scoring on second-chance opportunities, including a layup at 2:03 to extend the lead to 31-25. The Toros closed the half strong with another layup from Afifi at the buzzer, heading into the break with a 37-29 lead.

In the second half, Dominguez Hills tightened its defense, holding Fresno Pacific to just 37% shooting. Dent-Smith opened the period with a fastbreak layup at 18:47, followed by a three-pointer from Jordan Hilstock at 18:26 to push the lead to double digits. The Toros maintained their momentum, with Afifi converting a layup and free throw at 14:30 to extend the lead to 51-33. A three-pointer from Garcia at 7:12 gave Dominguez Hills its largest lead of the night at 62-42. The Toros closed the game on a 10-2 run, capped by Isaiah Bernard-Lopez's free throws with under a minute to play.

Afifi was a force throughout the game, recording a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds on 8-for-16 shooting. Dent-Smith added 19 points, including four three-pointers, while Garcia contributed 17 points and six rebounds. The Toros dominated in the paint with 42 points and outrebounded Fresno Pacific 38-31.

Cal State Dominguez Hills will begin CCAA play on Saturday, November 30th, on the road to take on Cal State LA at 3:00 p.m.
