Toros Edge Point Loma in Nail-Biter, 74-71

CARSON, Calif. — The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team continued their undefeated start to the season with a thrilling 74-71 victory over Point Loma on Wednesday night at the Torodome. The Toros relied on a strong fourth-quarter push to improve to 3-0 on the season.

The game was tightly contested, featuring six ties and 10 lead changes. Dominguez Hills set the tone early, outscoring Point Loma 19-12 in the opening quarter, with Asia Jordan starting the scoring with a layup at 9:21. Nala Williams added a fastbreak three-pointer at 6:46, showcasing the Toros' quick offensive pace. Jordan finished the quarter with a strong putback layup to maintain the lead.

Point Loma fought back in the second quarter, cutting the deficit with strong free-throw shooting. Despite the push, Williams kept the Toros ahead, converting a pair of free throws at 8:31 and a fastbreak layup at 8:22. The Toros entered halftime leading 37-31.

The third quarter saw Point Loma take control, outscoring Dominguez Hills 18-11. Williams hit a three-pointer at 6:48 to keep the Toros within striking distance, but the Sea Lions entered the final quarter leading 49-48.

Dominguez Hills responded in the fourth quarter with a 26-point outburst. Williams hit another clutch three-pointer at 4:00 to give the Toros a 64-60 lead, and Jordan's layup at the 3-second mark sealed the victory. Williams capped off the game with two free throws to finalize the score.

Williams led all scorers with 27 points, shooting 8-for-25 from the field and 8-for-12 from the line. Jordan dominated the paint with a double-double, contributing 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Teagan Thurman added 10 points off the bench, including a key three-pointer in the fourth quarter.

The Toros (3-0) will look to keep their streak alive when they host Bethesda on Saturday, November 16th, at 11am in the Torodome.
