Toros Rally in Second Half to Defeat Seattle Pacific, 88-77

SEATTLE, Wash. — Cal State Dominguez Hills surged back in the second half to claim an 88-77 victory over Seattle Pacific at Brougham Pavilion on Monday night. The Toros improved to 2-1 on the season, fueled by a career-high 31 points from junior Jeremy Dent-Smith, who was unstoppable from the free-throw line, going 13-for-15.

Seattle Pacific controlled the first half with sharp shooting, hitting 59% from the field to lead 52-45 at halftime. But the Toros responded strongly after the break. Dent-Smith opened the second half with a three-pointer at 19:46, sparking a rally that saw the Toros outscore the Falcons 43-25 over the final 20 minutes. He shot 7-for-15 from the floor, leading all scorers.

Senior Adam Afifi dominated in the paint, securing 15 rebounds alongside 13 points, providing Dominguez Hills with second chances and key defensive stops. Alex Garcia added 12 points and eight rebounds, while DJ Guest contributed eight points, including two vital free throws with five minutes left to keep the Toros ahead by double digits.

The Toros' defensive adjustments held the Falcons to just 28% shooting in the second half, neutralizing Seattle Pacific's offensive threat. The Toros also capitalized on their trips to the free-throw line, converting 30 of 38 attempts to maintain control in the game's final minutes.

The Toros (2-1) continues its road trip as they prepare to face Purdue University Northwest on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 3 p.m.
