TURLOCK, Calif. — Despite a strong offensive effort, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros battled to a 0-0 draw against the Stanislaus State Warriors in a hard-fought match.
The Toros broke free to as they fired off 16 shots, with five on target. Defender
Cland Iwasaki came close early in the 17th minute, but his shot went wide.
Jose Peredia led the attack with four shots, including attempts in the 49th and 56th minutes that just missed the mark. Peredia's shot in the 66th minute sailed over the crossbar in one of the team's best opportunities.
Goalkeeper Arturo Magaña was a key figure for the Toros, making five saves to keep the game level. He denied Stanislaus State in several critical moments, including a save on a close-range shot from the Golden Eagles in the 60th minute and another two both in the 64rd minute.
Taj Winnard provided a late spark with two shots on goal, including an 84th-minute strike that was saved by the Stanislaus State goalkeeper and a second shot in the 88
th minute.
Gavin Brummer also had a chance to snatch a late winner in the 90th minute, but his effort was stopped.
The Toros continue their Northern California road trip as they take on Chico State on Sunday, October 6
th at 11:30am.
