CARSON — The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros battled but couldn't find an equalizer, falling 1-0 to the Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks on in a tightly contested match.
 
The Toros came out with offensive intent, firing off 12 shots, including six in the first half. Early chances included a shot by Lauryn Bailey in the 10th minute that struck the top woodwork and another by Christine Duarte in the 20th minute, narrowly missing the mark. Cynthia Ramirez followed with a shot in the 35th minute, which sailed just wide, as the Toros kept the pressure on.
 
Goalkeeper Kylie Yuzon kept the Toros in the game, making four saves, including a critical stop on in the 70th minute. However, Cal Poly Humboldt managed to break the deadlock in the 52nd minute to put the Lumberjacks up 1-0.
 
Alyssa Villalobos led the Toros with three shots, including a powerful strike in the 67th minute that forced a save from Cal Poly Humboldt's goalkeeper. Villalobos and Isabella Ramirez each had attempts in the final 10 minutes, but the Lumberjacks saved Ramirez's shot in the 80th minute to preserve the shutout.
 
The Toros celebrate their senior this Sunday, October 13^th as they take on Sonoma State at 2pm in the Toro Stadium.
