CARSON — The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros displayed a relentless offense and solid defense, securing a commanding 6-0 win over the Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks.
The Toros had six different players score or assist, showcasing a complete team effort to earn their second conference victory.
The scoring began early as Mikey McKibbin found the net in the 3rd minute, capitalizing on a pass from
Jose Peredia to put CSUDH up 1-0. McKibbin doubled the lead in the 12th minute, connecting with assists from
Ndifor Ginyui and
Ramiro Rosas to make it 2-0.
The Toros continued their aggressive play, with Peredia joining the scoring in the 17th minute, slotting in a goal off an assist from
Logan Kaufman.
Zach Eichelberger extended the lead just before halftime, scoring in the 38th minute from an
Aldair Marta setup to give CSUDH a 4-0 advantage at the break.
In the second half, the Toros maintained their momentum.
Cland Iwasaki tallied his first goal of the season in the 66th minute, assisted by McKibbin.
Gavin Brummer capped off the scoring with a 74th-minute goal, assisted by Steve Gonzales.
Cal State Dominguez Hills outshot Cal Poly Humboldt 19-8, with 10 shots on target. Goalkeeper Arturo Magaña and substitute
Jalen Guadalupe combined for the clean sheet, with Magaña making three key saves in the first half.
The Toros, now 4-4-2 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play, will aim to carry this momentum into their next match against Sonoma State on Sunday, October 13
th at 2pm.
