CARSON — The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros battled against the Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes, ultimately falling with the final score standing at 87-81.
The Toros started strong, dominating the first half with a substantial 45-32 lead. Their aggressive offense and solid defense seemed to set the tone for the game, giving them a 13-point advantage as the teams headed into halftime.
CSUSB mounted a comeback, scoring 55 points to overturn the deficit. The Toros added 36 points to their second-half tally.
Jakob Alamudun led the Toros in scoring, contributing 18 points in 24 minutes of play. Alamudun shot 7-14 from the field, including 1-3 from three-point range, and made 3 of 5 free throws. He also pulled down six rebounds and dished out an assist.
Making a significant impact for the Toros was
Andre Ball as he scored 16 points over 36 minutes. Ball shot 5-13 overall and hit 6 of 8 free throws. Ball was also a force on the boards, grabbing nine rebounds, and he contributed an assist and two blocks.
DJ Guest added 10 points in 30 minutes, displaying efficiency by shooting 4-5 from the field and 2-2 from beyond the arc. Guest also collected seven rebounds and provided one assist and one block, showcasing his versatility on the court.
Jeremy Dent-Smith and
Alex Garcia each contributed eight points. Dent-Smith, in 29 minutes, shot 2-9 from the field and 1-2 from three-point range, while Garcia, in 20 minutes, was 2-4 overall and perfect from the three-point line and free-throw line.
Za-Ontay Boothman provided a significant boost off the bench, scoring 17 points in 27 minutes. He was efficient with his shooting, going 6-9 from the field and 3-4 from three-point territory.
