Toros Complete Thrilling Comeback to Defeat Cal Poly Humboldt in OT, 73-70

Carson, Calif- Toros win in a thriller in OT defeating Cal Poly Humboldt 73-70. Toros are now 8-8 overall, and 5-5 in CCAA play. The Lumberjacks move to 7-7 overall ,5-5 in CCAA play. 

During the beginning of the game both teams would go on runs to gain momentum and the score would be tight, 12-11 in favor of the Toros after the first. 

The Lumberjacks shooting 64.2% from the field would open up the second quarter on a 16-3 run. Toros would fight back with their own 6-2 run in the last two minutes of the half, the score would be 24-32 with the Lumberjacks taking the lead into halftime. 

The lead would belong to the Lumberjacks majority of the game, and they would have a four point lead of 43-39 after the end of the third quarter. Toros would use the career high night from Nala Williams to help spark their comeback. 

The Toros did their offensive damage in the 4th quarter shooting 75% from the field and 3-3 from the three point line. Asia Jordan would assert her dominance in the fourth quarter scoring back to back buckets to bring the lead down to 62-63 with 35 seconds left in regulation.. The Lumberjacks would then score two free throws which prompted an immediate timeout from the Toros with seven seconds left in the game. Nala Williams would tie the game 65-65, shooting a three pointer with two seconds left in regulation. 

The Toros would hang on to win in overtime 73-70, knocking down 6-8 of their free throws and holding the Lumberjacks to 2-6 from the field. 

Nala Williams would have a career night in points, three points made, and field goals made. She scored 31 points, shot 11-15 from the field and 6-9 from three. Also adding five rebounds and five steals to help the Toros defensively.  

Asia Jordan scored 19 points, had nine rebounds, and would shoot 7-10 from the field. 

Hosanna Walker would also have eight points and six rebounds for the Toros. 

Toros are back at home Saturday January 20 at 1pm, as they host Chico State.
