SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – The Cal State Dominguez Hills initiated their season with a match against Dominican University, resulting in a 2-0 loss.
 
In their debut fixture of the season, the Toros travelled to San Rafael to challenge the Penguins. The defensive line consisting of Gabby Morales, Azalia Salazar, Anahi Corrales, and Emma Arkus exhibited remarkable resilience, holding off Dominican's advances for the majority of the first half. However, Dominican broke through in the 31st minute, netting the opening goal. The game's fate was sealed when Dominican found the net again in the 75th minute.
 
Forward Christine Duarte took both shot attempts for the Toros, managing to place one on target. Goalkeeper Kylie Yuza made seven saves, while Abigail Escalante secured two saves during the match.
 
The Toros are set to continue their journey away from home as they face Fresno Pacific on Saturday, September 2nd, with kickoff at 11am.
