DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Cal State Dominguez Hills Dance Team earned a National Championship in the Division II Dance Spirit Rally (aka Gameday) category at last week's NDA College Dance Team National Championship.

The category allows teams to perform their traditional gameday material against other teams from around the country, and is by definition the truest form of what collegiate dance teams do to support the school's athletic teams while elevating fan participation and supporting school traditions.
The Toros posted the highest qualifying score of 92.25 of the teams competing, and held off runner-up Oklahoma Baptist University and Texas Woman's University in the finals with an even-better score of 93.3 to claim the National Championship.
Head coach Cilecia Foster also was awarded for having the most innovative choreography in the division.
In the Division II Hip Hop category, the Toros posted the 3rd-highest score in the prelims, but finished 4th overall after the final round commenced.
"I could not be prouder of what this team put on that floor." begins Foster. "What I am most proud of is the bond this team has. We are connected in a way that I haven't experienced in my 17 years of coaching this team.
"That unbreakable bond made this competition team so easy to work with," she continues. "Additionally, winning a national title for how we represent our university with spirit and pride at every game day and campus event means more to me than any other award. CSUDH left its mark and I can't wait to see how we grow in the future."
