CARSON – In a closely contested game, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros fell short against Stanislaus State, with the final score standing at 59-65. Despite a strong fourth-quarter rally, the Toros couldn't overcome the early deficit.
The game started with Stanislaus State taking the lead in the first quarter, outscoring the Toros 19-14. The gap widened in the second quarter as Stanislaus State added 20 points to the Toros' eight, establishing a significant lead by halftime.
Cal State Dominguez Hills showed resilience in the third quarter, but Stanislaus State maintained their advantage, outscoring the Toros 14-13. Heading into the final quarter, the Toros faced a substantial deficit.
In a remarkable turnaround, the Toros outscored Stanislaus State 24-12 in the fourth quarter. Their late-game surge, marked by aggressive offense and tightened defense, brought them within striking distance of a comeback. However, the early lead built by Stanislaus State proved too significant to overcome, and the Toros fell short as time expired.
Nala Williams led the Toros in scoring with 16 points. She shot 5-12 from the field, including 1-5 from three-point range, and was solid at the free-throw line, making 5 of 9 attempts. Williams also contributed significantly on the boards, pulling down eight rebounds, and showcased her defensive skills with an impressive five steals.

Asia Jordan pulled down an incredible 20 rebounds, 10 of which were offensive, and scored 12 points, despite facing challenges in shooting efficiency.
Joe'l Benoit contributed 12 points on 5-10 shooting, including 1-2 from beyond the arc. Benoit also contributed defensively with two blocks and added a rebound and two assists to her stat line.
Danyell Booker and
Kylee Edgar added six points each, providing valuable support off the bench. Booker also grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists, while Edgar contributed seven rebounds and an assist.
Their strong defensive effort, highlighted by 12 steals, kept them in contention. As they continue their season, the Toros will look to harness these individual performances and convert them into winning results.
