CARSON – In an explosive display of offense, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros shattered the single-game scoring record, cruising to a 112-76 victory over Bethesda University of California.
The Toros set the pace with a 27-18 lead in the first quarter and expanded their advantage to 59-38 by halftime. They continued their scoring barrage with 33 points in the third quarter, extending their lead further. The final quarter saw the Toros add 20 more to their tally, cementing their record-breaking win.
Nala Williams led the charge with 21 points on an impressive 9-12 shooting from the field. She also contributed three rebounds, seven assists, and an impressive three blocks, underscoring her all-around impact on the game.
Coming off the bench for the Toros was
Gabrielle Wright who was a force to be reckoned with, scoring 19 points and leading the team with 12 rebounds to seal her first double-double.
Asia Jordan added 17 points of her own, going 5-9 from the field and making 7 of 8 free throws. Jordan also pulled down six rebounds and blocked two shots, proving to be a key defensive presence.
Cristina Oliva and
Rebecca Penner contributed 12 and 6 points, respectively, while also making contributions on the defensive end. Oliva notched four blocks, while Penner grabbed seven rebounds.
Other notable performances included
Amaya Snowden and
Kylee Edgar, who contributed 9 and 8 points, respectively. Snowden also added five rebounds and three assists, while Edgar pulled down six rebounds and provided four assists.
Collectively, the Toros showcased why they were able to break the single-game scoring record, with a powerful offensive display complemented by aggressive defense that tallied 17 steals and a strong presence on the glass with 63 rebounds.
