Toros Win Half The Battle But Lose The War

San Rafael, Calif.– The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros battled the tough Dominican University Penguins in the Bay Area, but ultimately fell 68-82.

The Toros had a slow start, scoring 17 points in the first quarter while allowing the Penguins to score 24. The Toros, however, showed resilience in the second quarter, outscoring their opponents 19-14 and demonstrating their hallmark hustle and grit.

Despite this second-quarter promise, the Toros struggled to maintain the momentum after halftime. Dominican University regained their form in the third quarter by adding 21 points to the Toros' 13. The final quarter saw a Toro run, but ultimately the Toros lost, 68-82.

Joe'l Benoit, led the Toros both in scoring and rebounding. She scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds, with an impressive 60% shooting from the field.

Malia Goldsmith played very well for the Toros, scoring 12 points and securing four rebounds.

Kylie Galick contributed 10 points and three rebounds. Galick also went perfect from the free throw line as she continues to improve along with her teammates.

Hosanna Walker was another significant player for the Toros as she scored nine points and chipped in two steals.

The Toros will regroup back home before making their next trip to Northern California when they take on Sonoma State, November 30th at 5:30 p.m.
