TURLOCK -- Sophomore
Asia Jordan posted the game's lone double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds as the 20th-ranked Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team remained perfect on the year after taking a 68-56 win at Stanislaus State this afternoon, improving to 14-0 overall and 8-0 in the CCAA.
After the hosts took a 22-18 lead after the first 10 minutes of play, the Toros replied with a stifling 15-4 2nd quarter to take control of the game for good, holding the Warriors to just two field goals while taking a 33-26 lead into halftime.
A
Kelsey Bell triple with just 58 seconds elapsed in the third quarter gave CSUDH its first double-figure lead at 38-26, with a pair of
Danyell Booker free throws with three minutes left in the frame bring the Toros to a 14-point lead at 47-33.
Down 11 points heading into the final quarter of play, the Warriors cut their deficit to single digits on six occasions, but would never get closer than eight points in the 12-point decision.
Freshman sensation
Nala Williams added 10 points and nine boards in the win, while Bell chipped in with nine, all coming from downtown.
The Toros out-boarded the hosts by six, and were rewarded with their aggressive play with 11 more free throw attempts in the contest.
CSUDH will look to stay perfect next week as Cal State Monterey Bay visits the Torodome on Thursday for a 5:30 pm tipoff.
