LOS ANGELES –
Alyssa Newsom recorded four saves in goal but the effort was spoiled as the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team fell to crosstown rivals Cal State LA 2-0 at University Stadium Sunday afternoon.
The Toros remains in search for a win in the 2022 season, falling to 0-7-2.
Dominguez Hills was limited to only three shots on the attack.
Kaia Mills,
Lexi Howard and
Azalia Salazar each had one.
Of the four saves the keeper Newsom made, one was notable. LA was awarded a free kick at the top of the box, Shelby Melin fired a shot that ricocheted off the crossbar but it appeared that Newsom got a finger on it to keep it away from crossing the goal line.
The Golden Eagles scored its first goal in the 18
th minute and the second came off a penalty kick in the 63
rd minute.
Dominguez Hills returns to campus to begin a three-match homestand starting Friday with Cal State San Marcos. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m. at Toro Stadium.
