Toros Play to a One-Goal Draw with Western Colorado

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Making their first trip to the state of Colorado in eight years, the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Western Colorado on the campus of Colorado Mesa on a hot Friday afternoon.

A new rule was implemented this season as teams with the elimination of overtime during the regular season. Teams will settle with draws at the 90-minute mark.

Although Lexi Howard was credited with the Toros' first goal of the season, a good amount of credit goes to Sarah Martinez in the 32nd minute. The freshman dribbled across midfield and fed a perfect pass to the front for Howard, who beat the keeper and slotted the ball into the goal.

The Mountaineers eventually tied the match in the 78th minute.

Dominguez Hills on paper showed to have dominated on the attack, outshooting the Mountaineers 15-6, 6-4 on goal.

The Toros will get to enjoy Saturday in Grand Junction before wrapping up the weekend with host Colorado Mesa Sunday at 1 p.m. PDT.
