CARSON -- Visiting Cal State Monterey Bay broke a 1-1 tie at the 89:30 mark to steal a non-conference matchup against host Cal State Dominguez Hills, ending the Toros' non-conference schedule and sending them to CCAA Conference play winless in seven tries.
Julia Burdick scored her first goal of the 2022 season in the loss.
The two teams played to a scoreless tie in the first 45 minutes of action, with CSUMB enjoying a 5-4 edge in shots.
The play remained equitable after intermission as each side tallied six shots in the frame, until the final 20 minutes, when both offenses began to shine.
The Otters were first to put up a crooked number on the scoreboard as Amelia McManus directed a low line drive past CSUDH keeper
Alyssa Newsom for a 1-0 lead.
CSUDH, however, answered just over seven minutes later after
Lexi Howard fed Burdick, who sent her shot into the upper right corner for the equalizer.
Burdick looked to break the tie in the 89th minute, but her shot was blocked, setting up a final push by the Otters.
In that push, McManus again was the beneficiary of a pair of touches, collected a feed from Mitsy Ramirez and sending another low liner past Newsom for the game-winner.
The Toros will begin CCAA conference play on Friday as it takes on Cal Poly Pomona at Kellogg Stadium, with first kick set for 4:30 pm.
