Anthony Accordino belted two home runs as part of four on the day for Cal State Dominguez Hills as the Toros rolled to an 11-1 win over host Stanislaus State to kick off the four-game CCAA set this evening.
Starter
Dylan Steen tossed 6.0 innings in the win, fanning four and scattering five hits.
The Toros started quickly, putting two runners on base before Accordino took the first pitch he saw and went deep to left center for a 3-0 lead. CSUDH made 5-0 two innings later on an
Alberto Luevano RBI double and Warrior error.
After the Warriors got on the board in their 3rd inning at-bat, the visitors added two runs in the 5th, 6th, and 8th innings, putting the game away.
Accordino went deep again in the 5th after
Pierson Loska singled with one out, before
Scott Ogrin walked with the bases loaded in the 6th, and Loska brought in another run with a sacrifice fly.
Two innings later,
Eric Smelko and Loska each belted solo shots to account for the game's final runs.
Smelko finished with three hits and two runs scored, while Loska, Accordino, Leuvano and
Caleb Ellis all went for two hits. Accordino added a game-high five RBI in the rout.
The two teams continue their four-game set tomorrow, with first pitch of game one set for 1 pm on Warrior Baseball Field.
