Asia Jordan scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for her fourth straight double-double but the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team saw its five-game win streak come to an abrupt halt when Cal State LA ran away to an 80-69 result on the City of Carson Night at the Torodome Thursday evening.
Despite the loss, the Toros (9-8, 7-5 CCAA) still remain in good shape as the hunt for a spot to the CCAA Tournament is underway. Dominguez Hills is currently sitting in fourth place with seven games to go.
Hosanna Walker reached new heights in her career as a Toro, scoring 14 points and grabbing eight rebounds.
Danyell Booker had 11 points and
Auren Isaacson had 10 despite a difficult evening which she was 2-for-13 from 3-point range.
The Golden Eagles had the 3-point shooting edge over the Toros, hitting 7-of-21 from beyond the arc.
The second quarter pretty much set the tone of the game as the Golden Eagles (7-9, 6-5 CCAA) outscored the Toros 22-15 to take a 42-31 lead at halftime.
Dominguez Hills goes up for another challenge on Saturday as they welcome first-place Cal State San Marcos to the Torodome at 1 p.m. The Cougars, who are receiving votes in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association Top 25 poll, come back to Southern California after upsetting No. 24 Cal State East Bay 76-54 in Hayward to post their 10
th straight win.
