SAN DIEGO -- The Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team ran into a green, gold and white buzzsaw donned in Point Loma uniforms, mustering just four hits en route to a 4-0 loss to the Sea Lions this afternoon to open a two-game home-and-away series.
The Toros drop to 3-4 overall while the Sea Lions remain perfect at 9-0.
Coming off an impressive outing in his last start,
Dylan Steen tossed 5.0 innings on the day, allowing seven hits and two earned runs in being saddled with the loss. The Toro defense committed two errors on the day to account for a pair of unearned runs.
Scott Ogrin,
Matt Beserra,
Emilio Barrera and
Grant Decatrel each knocked a hit in the contest, while five Toro pitchers saw action.
The two teams conclude their brief series tomorrow morning for an 11 am first pitch on Toro Field with Homecoming serving as a backdrop to the contest. As part of Homecoming, Long Beach Councilmember Rex Richardson will throw the honorary first pitch before the game, coming home to his alma mater.
