CARSON -- One game after staging a late-inning come-from-behind victory on the road, Cal State Dominguez Hills had the roles reversed this afternoon as visiting Concordia University scored thrice in the 8th to erase a 4-2 deficit and come away with a 5-4 win in the series finale.
Scott Ogrin wielded the big bat today for the Toros, going 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.
CSUDH took a quick 2-0 lead after
Alberto Luevano drove in Ogrin in the 3rd, and
Grant Decatrel grounded out one inning later to bring home
Emilio Barrera.
After the Eagles knotted the game in the top half of the 5th, Ogrin broke the tie with a solo blast in the bottom half, before an
Eric Smelko sacrifice fly in the 6th gave the home team a 2-run cushion.
That's where the score remained until the top of the 8th when the Eagles took the lead for good with three runs, the big blast coming on a two-run jack by Calvin Schonebaum.
Donovan Waitman took the loss, unable to record an out in the momentum-shifting 8th inning, while Luevano knocked two hits on the afternoon.
CSUDH, now 3-3, will take on Point Loma in a two-game series, beginning on the road on February 18.
