CARSON – On Star Wars Night at the Torodome, the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team flipped on the hyperdrive early into the first period and cruised in lightspeed to a 68-51 victory over Cal Poly Humboldt to improve to 5-0 to start the season Thursday.
The Toros have won five-straight games for the first time in 19 years.
Auren Isaacson scored 18 points, including three buckets from 3-point range,
Dawnyel Lair dropped in 15 points along with eight rebounds and
Allyah Cartajena recorded a dozen points.
Despite the 17-point gap, both side kept the shooting close. The Toros hit 37.7 percent of their shots while the Lumberjacks (2-3, 1-1 CCAA) shot 36.8 percent.
The two sides were even at six with 3:55 in the opening quarter. The Toros siezed momentum the rest of the way to take a 16-8 lead into the second period. The run would extend to nine points at the start of the second period, giving CSUDH a 25-8 lead.
Dominguez Hills went into the locker room with a 37-19 lead.
The Toros will welcome Sonoma State to the Torodome Saturday at 1 p.m.
