SAN FRANCISCO – Thanks to
Alyssa Newsom, the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team escape San Francisco State with a point.
After a quiet matchup between the Gators and Toros at Cox Stadium, SF State was awarded a penalty kick with 2:26 left in the match and Newsom guessed right and made the stop to preserve a scoreless draw, earning her second straight shutout and giving Dominguez Hills two points on the week.
Despite going scoreless in matches against Sonoma State and SF State on the week, Dominguez Hills remains in search of a win, going 0-9-4 overall and 0-4-2 in the CCAA.
Both the Toros and Gators had a quiet day on the attack. Each side had four shots but the Gators had all their takes on goal and were stopped by Newsom. Gator keeper Marcella Salyer had to make only two stops.
All the Toros' four shots were from well beyond the goal box.
Dominguez Hills returns to wrap up the home schedule this coming weekend, starting Friday with Stanislaus State. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m.
