Asia Jordan scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team outscored Humboldt State in the middle quarters to win their third straight game 70-60 Saturday afternoon.
The Toros have now won six of their last seven games to bring their record to 7-8 overall and 5-4 in the CCAA. It is the first time the Toros have climbed above .500 in conference play this season.
Although the 'Jacks (4-9, 3-6 CCAA) won the first quarter 22-15, the Toros answered back and dominated the second period 21-8 to take a 36-30 lead into intermission. The Toros then outscored the 'Jacks in the third quarter, 19-11 to extend their lead to 55-41.
Dominguez Hills did build a 17-point lead early into the fourth quarter, Humboldt did go on a run that cut the deficit down to six midway through the period. Jordan helped get two important buckets to bring the lead back to a dozen with 1:21 left.
Jordan capped off the homestand between Sonoma State and Humboldt State scoring 27 points and had 21 rebounds.
The Toros go back on the road but will stay in Southern California, starting with Cal Poly Pomona Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Due to Cal Poly Pomona policy, only student-athletes' guests will be admitted into Kellogg Arena.
