Men's Soccer Offense Silenced by Biola in Midweek Action

LA MIRADA – The Cal State Dominguez Hills men's soccer team couldn't find any offensive rhythm as the Toros were shutout 2-0 against Biola Wednesday night in match two of a five-match tour against the PacWest Conference.
 
Despite logging in seven shots, Dominguez Hills' offense was only able to get towards the goal only once.
 
The best chance the Toros had on getting on the board was at the 58-minute mark. Bryan Rodriguez took a beautiful shot from outside the left part of the box only it hit the right post, Alpha Sowe answered back right off the rebound, but his shot curved to the left side where a diving JD Gunn in goal.
 
Despite the loss, Toro goalkeeper Dylan De Baldo made four saves, two of which were brilliant dives that kept it a two-goal deficit.
 
Biola got on the board in the 20th minute, when a cross by Pontus Gitselov in the box set up the one-touch shot by Oscar Rubalcava on the left side of the post. The Eagles got the second goal in the 63rd minute, when a free kick on the upper left side of the goal box line stunned the Toros.
 
The Toros open up the home portion of their 2021 schedule Saturday against Concordia (Calif.) at the Dignity Health Sports Park Field #3. Kickoff is to follow the women's match against the Eagles at 7 p.m. Parking can be found on Lot 10.
