Home Sweet Home! Toros Hold Off Aggressive Eagles to Win Opener

CARSON – After 679 days, the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's soccer team – finally – opened their long-awaited home schedule. Sulaiman Bah became the hero after scoring the eventual winning goal in the Toros' 3-2 win over Concordia (Calif.) at Dignity Health Sports Park's Field #3 Saturday evening.

The Toros get back in the win column and improve to 2-1.

Dominguez Hills' win turned out to be a good one as the match offensively was dominated by the Eagles, who are now 1-1-1 in both the season and against the CCAA after besting Cal Poly Pomona and tying Cal State San Bernardino. The Eagles outshot the Toros 19-8.

After Concordia jumped ahead 1-0 two and a half minutes into the match, Brandon Lee evened the score when he took a pass from Michael McKibbin to the top of the box and fired it into the back of the net.

Alpha Sowe gave the Toros a 2-1 on a penalty kick in the 33rd minute but Concordia answered back five minutes later to take 2-2 tie into the break.

Lee would come through again in the assist column by setting up Bah's go-ahead goal in the 66th minute.

The two sides were physical within the final five minutes of the match, the Toros held on to win the match.

Dominguez Hills goes back on the road for the next five matches, starting with a trip to the Bay Area facing Dominican Thursday at 3:30 p.m. followed by Holy Names Saturday at 2 p.m.
