CARSON –
Colten Kresl scored 21 points, fellow senior
Chris Seeley had 11 along with 10 rebounds for another double-double performance as the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team survived another prize fight with their other county rival Cal Poly Pomona, beating the Broncos 80-73 before going on the Holiday break Saturday evening.
The Dominguez Hills win quickly erased a haunting overtime defeat to No. 12 Cal State San Bernardino less than 48 hours ago, bumping the Toros overall record to 6-5 while moving to 3-2 in the CCAA.
Much like a cross-county rivalry, the matchup had all the suspense and intensity. Cal Poly Pomona (6-3, 2-3 CCAA) led from the beginning and had led by as many as 10. The Toros rallied from that deficit and used a 10-2 run to take their first lead (47-45) in the game with 9:56 left. The Broncos would tie the game at 50 and a 3-pointer by Kresl followed by an old-fashion trey play from Seeley put the Toros up front the rest of the game.
While the Toros shot 49 percent from the field, they did connect nine 3-pointers and was one short from matching the season-high. Kresl had five of those distant shots while
Jordan Hilstock had four.
Although Dominguez Hills will get to celebrate the Christmas holiday, it goes back to work to prepare for a New Year's Day matchup with Cal State East Bay. Tipoff is at 3 p.m. The Pioneers are coming off a 92-80 loss to San Bernardino in Oakland earlier in the day.
The Toros beat the Pioneers 69-62 to open CCAA play in Hayward last month.

CCAA Network Reminder
With our return to competition this season, we offered free access to all Cal State Dominguez Hills contests on the CCAA Network for the first semester. This was to assist with the adjustment and alleviate some of the initial financial burden for our fans and families. We would love to have you attend our events in-person, however, we know that is not always possible.
Beginning January 1, the CCAA Network will be implementing a subscription fee of $9.95 per month, giving viewers all access to CSUDH, its fellow 11 CCAA members and CCAA Championships. For a little more than the cost of a single-game ticket, fans will have access to all home and away events for the Toros.
For the Toros, the subscription begins New Year's Day when the men's and women's basketball games will host Cal State East Bay.
