Women's Basketball Silences Yotes for Second Straight Win

CARSON – Asia Jordan scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for her third double-double of the season as the freshman helped Cal State Dominguez Hills lead from start to finish and post a 69-61 winning result over Cal State San Bernardino at the Torodome Thursday evening.

It is the second straight win for the Toros while handing them their first CCAA victory.

While both sides shot 32 percent from the field, it was the free throws and rebounding that benefited the Toros. Dominguez Hills out-rebounded San Bernardino 55-36 while making 23 of 27 on the charity stripe. The Toros also took advantage of the Yotes' 17 turnovers, producing 24 points off those miscues.

Although she was 0-for-10 from the field, Auren Isaacson did get 10 points going perfect on the free throw line, matching the program record for field goal percentage. She joins Monay Lee, who holds the CCAA record of going 15-for-15 against UC San Diego in 2012 and Tracee Lewis, who went 13-for-13 against SF State in 2002.

The Toros set the tone in the game by using a 7-0 run in less than 15 seconds to take a 13-4 lead with 6:45 to go in the opening quarter.

Dominguez Hills had led by as many as 14 in the game.

The Toros are back on the court one last time before the holiday break, hosting a rebuilding Cal Poly Pomona Saturday at 1 p.m. The Broncos are coming off a 69-55 defeat at Cal State East Bay tonight.
