Too Many Free Throws Hurt Toros in Tight Battle with Fresno Pacific

OAKLAND – Chris Seeley scored 21 points, the first in his Toro career, but it wasn't enough as the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team fell 68-63 to undefeated Fresno Pacific at Holy Names' Torbin Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.

In a matchup that saw 10 lead changes from start to finish, neither side had a double-digit lead.

Free throws turned out to be the major factor in the Sunbirds (3-0) beating the Toros, going 20-for-25 on the line. The Toros (2-2) made only nine trips to the charity stripe, making seven of them.

Although the Toros shot 36 percent from the field, they went 8-for-28 from 3-point range. They did hold Fresno Pacific to 38.6 percent for a season low.

Hilstock and Andre Ball each had six of the Toros' 34 rebounds.

While Dominguez Hills' largest lead in the game was five in the first half, the Toros would grab the lead three times in the second, the gap was no more than two points. Fresno Pacific would take the lead permanently with 6:12 left but Dominguez Hills never let the Sunbirds run away with it.

The Toros get one last non-conference game in before both Thanksgiving and opening CCAA play, hosting Concordia (Calif.) Wednesday at 2 p.m.
