Biola Holds Off CSUDH Despite Isaacson's Game-High 24 Points

LOS ANGELES -- Cal State Dominguez Hills shaved 10 points off an 11-point deficit with just 2:27 left in regulation, but that would be as close as the Toros would get as Biola held on for a 72-69 win over CSUDH this afternoon in a neutral site contest on the campus of Cal State LA despite a game-high 24 points from Auren Isaacson.

The Toros drop to 0-2 on the young season, dropping both games by a total of six points.

CSUDH took a slim lead after the first quarter at 19-15, only to have the Eagles answer with a 28-17 second to take a 43-36 lead entering the break.

Defense took center stage after intermission as the teams combined for a total of 15 points, setting up a frenetic fourth.

In the final frame, Biola pushed its lead to 66-55 with 2:27 left in regulation, before an old-fashioned 3-point play by Deejanae Poland trimmed CSUDH's deficit to eight.

A pair of Danyell Booker freebies made the score 66-60, and after a Biola basket, a pair of baskets by Asia Jordan brought the Toros to within 68-64 with just 64 ticks remaining.

After a pair of Eagle free throws, a Poland jumper and triple by Isaacson made the score 70-69 with 13 seconds left, but Biola was able to neutralize the Toro press and convert two free throws after being fouled, accounting for the final tally.

Kelsey Bell added 12 and Booker 10 to round out the Toro double-figure scorers, with Booker adding 10 boards to give her lone double-double for CSUDH.

The Toros play their final exhibition on Monday at CS Northridge, before resuming countable games on Thursday, hosting Point Loma.
