ROHNERT PARK -- Sophomore Jenna Sandall led Cal State Dominguez Hills with seven kills in the match, but host Sonoma State proved too efficient when it counted in taking a 25-19, 25-18, 25-23 win over the Toros in the final match of the regular season for the Cardinal and Gold.

The Toros finish the 2021 campaign with a 2-21 overall record and 3-14 in the CCAA, with one of the "wins" coming via a forfeit after a team was placed on the league's COVID-19 protocol list, thus forfeiting a conference win to the Toros.

Today's match saw the Toros hit just .108, with the Seawolves not faring much better at .185.

SSU's 10 to five service ace advantage, coupled with CSUDH making 10 reception errors compared to five for the hosts proved pivotal in a match that was decided by 15 overall points.

In addition to Sandall's seven kills, Renee Wheeler, Nicole Peery and Darien Mann each contributed four, while Coco Ikpe and Sandall added nine digs each in the loss.

CSUDH bade farewell to four seniors at last week's senior night, and will rely on the returners' experience and a strong 2022 recruiting class to bring the Toros back to challenging for a spot in next year's CCAA Tournament.
