TURLOCK -- Freshman
Coco Ikpe led visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills with a match-high 10 kills, but host Stanislaus State tallied three more service aces and four fewer service errors en route to a 25-17, 25-21, 25-22 sweep.
The Warrior defense showed up early to begin the match, forcing the Toros to commit nine attack errors and hit just .050 in the frame.
CSUDH upped its efficiency and defensive acumen in the second, boasting a higher hitting percentage and less attack errors. Stan State, however, used a 3-0 block advantage and a 1-0 edge in services to take the tight set, giving them a 2-0 lead.
In the third,  the Toros continued their offensive ascent to the tune of a .211 hitting percentage, but their two services aces were negated by two service errors, helping account for Stan State's three-point win in the decisive set.
Renee Wheeler,
Jenna Sandall and
Nicole Peery each added five kills while
Bailey Fuches led the cardinal and gold with 14 assists in the loss, moving them to 1-6 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play.
The Toros continue their northern California swing tomorrow night at Chico State, with first serve set for 5 pm.
