Maryjane Smith from the Cal State Dominguez Hills track & field team was named to the first-ever California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Track & Field All-Star Team. The announcement was made Tuesday by the league office.
Deciding that a month and a half worth of season results was not enough to bestow all-conference honors, the CCAA teamed up with its members' sports information directors to put together the All-Star roster in a fun effort to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments across the league during the abbreviated 2020 campaign. All 12 programs were guaranteed one representative to showcase talent across the conference.
Smith specialized in the long-sprint events. She had the fourth-fastest 400 time in the conference at 58.73, set at the Kim Duyst Inivtational. Smith clocked the sixth fastest 800 in the CCAA when she won the event at the Cal State LA Invitational with a time of 2:20.22.
