CALIFORNIA - With the global pandemic suspending and subsequently ending the 2019-20 college athletics season in March, the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) decided that it would be an impossibility to properly bestow all-conference honors for spring sports. As a result, the conference has announced the first, and hopefully last, CCAA All-Star Teams, in a fun effort to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments across the league during the abbreviated 2020 campaign. The Toros had three honored by the conference in senior outfielder
Jessica Lane, senior infielder
Chenoa Au and junior pitcher
Alyssa Olague. The announcement was made Tuesday by the league office. All 11 programs in the conference were guaranteed one representative to showcase talent across the league. These standout performers were submitted for consideration by the league's softball sports information contacts.
Au hit .333 (25-for-75) with 14 runs. In the CCAA, she tied for first in triples with three, tied for fifth in stolen bases with 14 (on 14 attempts), tied for sixth in with 20 and tied for ninth in home runs with three. She was the CCAA Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 4 - Mar. 1
Lane hit a team-high .368 with 13 runs and seven RBI. In the conference, she was ninth in batting average, tied for fifth in hits with 28, tied for ninth in sacrifice hits with four and tied for 10th in stolen bases with 10.
Olague was CSUDH's ace with a 9-3 pitching record to go along a 2.77 ERA. In the CCAA she ranked, first in saves with four, fifth in innings pitched with 73.1, sixth in strikeouts with 62 and eighth in complete games with six. She was the CCAA Pitcher of the Week for the week of Feb. 10 - 16.
The Toros had a16-8 overall record and were third in the CCAA with a 9-5 conference record before the season was canceled.
