TURLOCK - No. 23 Cal State Dominguez Hills split a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) softball doubleheader to Stanislaus State, Friday at Warriors Softball Field. The Toros fell in game one 6-3 before taking game two 8-0.

With the split, CSUDH is now 15-7 overall and 8-4 in conference play. Stanislaus State is 9-14 overall and 8-10 in the CCAA.

The two teams will close the four-game series with another doubleheader on Sunday, March 7 starting at 11 a.m.

STAN 6, CSUDH 3
Two errors in the fourth inning led to four runs as the Toros fell in the series opener 6-3. Sophomore
Ashley Wies pitched the first inning, getting all of her outs via strikeout, and was relieved by freshman
Clarisa Ramirez the rest of the way. Ramirez threw five innings and had three strikeouts.Â

CSUDH started the game with two runs in the opening frame. Junior
Raquel Jaime reached on a hit and came in on a RBI from senior
Jade Loe. Freshman
Dafne Bravo hit a single to score Loe as the Toros led by two. The Warriors hit a home run in the bottom of the inning to cut the margin in half.

CSUDH committed errors on consecutive plays in the bottom of the third and it led to four runs from Stanislaus State. The Toros fought back and were able to get one run in the top of the sixth. Bravo doubled and was pinch ran for by freshman
Arlene Martinez. Fellow freshman
Kaylee Hull brought Martinez in with a deep shot to center field. The Warriors scored an insurance run in the bottom of the frame to account for the final score.

CSUDH 8, STAN 0
The Toro offense came alive with 11 hits, and aided by seven Stanislaus State errors, were able to prevail 8-0. Wies threw a complete-game shutout in game two, striking out a career-high 10 batters in the process and only giving up two hits.

CSUDH got its first run in the second thanks to two Warrior errors. The Toros added one in the fifth as senior
Jessica Lane singled, stole second and came home on Jaime's RBI. CSUDH widened the lead in the sixth with five runs. Junior
Chloe Wenger hit a double and was pinch ran for by freshman
Alex Davis. Senior
Kendelle Messersmith hit one to the outfield to get Davis in and was pinch ran for by junior
Karlee Rivera.

Rivera advanced to third on a single from junior
Kelcy Telles and was plated on an error induced by senior
Jessica Lane. Jaime batted into a ground out RBI to score and Lane touched home on a Stanislaus State error induced by senior
Chenoa Au. Au was the final run of the inning, coming home on a RBI from Hull, to make it 7-0.

The Toros added one more in the top of the seventh to account for the final score. Wenger singled, advanced to second on Messersmith's hit, took third as Telles induced an error and scored as Lane reached on a fielder's choice.
