CARSON - Cal State Dominguez Hills fell to Cal State Monterey Bay by a score of 67-58 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) women's basketball matchup, Saturday at the Torodome.
The Toros (10-12, 7-9 CCAA) had two players record double-doubles. Senior
Ahlisha Henderson had 13 points and 14 rebounds, while fellow senior
Destinee Williams had 11 points and 11 rebounds. It was Williams' fourth double-double of the season and Henderson's seventh.
Dijour Ledbetter also had double-figure rebounds with 10. As a team, CSUDH outrebounded the Otters 55-39, including 23-5 on the offensive glass.
Both teams exchanged buckets for much of the opening quarter as CSUMB held a slight edge, 16-14, after 10 minutes of play. CSUDH could only muster four points in the second period and trailed, 29-18, at halftime.
The Otters kept the offensive onslaught going and grabbed their biggest lead of the game by 19 points, 42-23, with 4:30 left in the third. The Toros were able to cut the margin to eight points in the fourth quarter, but CSUMB responded right away with a basket and ultimately prevailed by nine.
The Toros will face UC San Diego on the road, Thursday, Feb. 14 at 5:30 p.m. for their next matchup.
