CARSON - Cal State Dominguez Hills led from wire-to-wire and prevailed over Cal State San Bernardino by a final score of 78-63 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) women's basketball matchup, Saturday at the Torodome.
Before the game, five seniors in
Ahlisha Henderson,
Alzena Henry,
Jasmine Phoolka,
Destinee Williams and
Dijour Ledbetter were honored as they played in their final home matchup.
The seniors led the Toros (11-15, 8-12 CCAA) with Williams compiling 26 points and seven rebounds. Henderson recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Ledbetter contributed 12 points and 16 rebounds for her second double-double of the year. Henry was also in double figures with 10 points.
The Toros started the game with six unanswered points, two layups from Henry and two free throws from Henderson, and never looked back. CSUDH led by as much as 16 points and ended the first quarter with a 10-point lead, 25-15. The Toros kept their foot on the pedal and took a 15-point advantage at halftime, 43-28.
CSUDH kept the onslaught going and stretched the margin to 20 points, 65-45, with a minute left in the third quarter. The Coyotes outscored the Toros by three in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough as CSUDH eventually prevailed by 15 points.
The Toros will travel to and face San Francisco State on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m. for their next matchup.
