SAN MARCOS - Cal State Dominguez Hills swept Cal State San Marcos in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) softball doubleheader by scores of 1-0 and 7-3, Friday at CSUSM Softball Field.

With the two wins, the Toros improve to 11-5 overall and 4-2 in the CCAA. The Cougars drop to 5-10 overall and 3-7 in conference play. The two teams are scheduled to play another doubleheader to close out the series on Saturday, starting at 12 p.m., weather permitting.Â

CSUDH 1, CSUSM 0
Pitchers
Ashley Wies and
Alyssa Olague combined for a shutout and limited the Toros to four hits as CSUDH squeaked out the 1-0 win. Wies (2-2) threw the first four innings to earn the win and struck out two. Olague came in relief for the final three frames and struck out two to earn her third save of the season.

The lone score of the game came in the top of the third inning. Freshman
Alex Davis drew a walk, stole second and came home on senior
Chenoa Au's triple. With one out and a runner on in the bottom of the seventh, Olague was able to get the Cougars to ground out into a double play to end the contest.

CSUDH 7, CSUSM 3
In a role-reversal of game one, Olague got the win and Wies got the save. Olague (8-3) threw the first 5.1 innings with four strikeouts and allowing three runs. Wies came in relief for the final 1.2 and retired all five batters in order with two strikeouts.

The Toros started early with two runs in the first innings. Junior
Kelcy Telles drew a walk, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and came home as junior
Raquel Jaime induced a CSUSM error. In the ensuing at bat, Au tripled to bring in Jaime for the 2-0 lead.

CSUDH added three more in the fourth. Freshman
Maddy Ybarra hit a single and fellow freshman
Kaylee Hull hit her first collegiate home run to center field for two more runs. Not done yet in the inning, senior
Jessica Lane drew a walk, took second on freshman
Dafne Bravo's sacrifice bunt and was plated on a hit through the left side from freshman
Alex Davis.

The Toros made it a 7-0 lead in the fifth. Jaime hit a single, took second on a ground out, advanced to third on a passed ball and came home on Ybarra's RBI. Hull got her third RBI of the game with a double to bring in Ybarra.

The Cougars punched back with two runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth. Wies came in with the bases loaded and one out in the sixth. She struck out and grounded out the two Cougar batters to get out of the jan.Â
