CARSON - Cal State Dominguez Hills narrowly fell to Cal Poly Pomona by a final score of 59-56 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) women's basketball matchup, Thursday at the Torodome.

CSUDH (10-15, 7-12 CCAA) was led by senior
Destinee Williams' 15 points. She added seven rebounds. Fellow senior
Ahlisha Henderson contributed 13 points and nine rebounds. Jackie Ricketson and Kasey Smit led CPP (16-9, 12-7 CCAA) with 14 points each.

The first quarter of the game had the most scoring as the Broncos took a five-point lead, 21-16, at the end of the first 10 minutes of play. The Toros limited CPP to just six points in the second and evened the score on an
Alzena Henry layup to even the score, 27-27, at halftime.

CSUDH started the second half on a 10-4 run, capped off by a 3-pointer from senior
Jasmine Phoolka, to grab its largest advantage of the game, 37-31. The Toros went into the fourth and final quarter up, 44-42.

With four minutes remaining, CSUDH still holding on to a two-point lead, 50-48, Cal Poly Pomona scored seven unanswered to lead by five. With nine seconds left and trailing by three, 57-54, the Toros turned the ball over, giving the Broncos an easy layup.
Janelle Sumilong's layup accounted for the final score of the game as CPP prevailed by three.

CSUDH will have a day off before welcoming Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday, Feb. 22. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Before the game, seniors Henderson, Williams, Phoolka, Henry and
Dijour Ledbetter will be honored for Senior Night.
