CARSON - Cal State Dominguez Hills fell to Chico State in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) women's basketball matchup by a final score of 81-64, Saturday at the Torodome.

The Toros (6-8, 3-5 CCAA) were led by senior
Jasmine Phoolka's 17 points. Freshman
Ariana Harper chipped in 13 and senior
Alzena Henry had nine points and a game- and career-high 16 rebounds. The leading scorer for the Wildcats (9-5, 5-4 CCAA) was Maddy Wong with 21 points on seven 3-pointers.

The two teams went back-and-forth to open the game with Chico holing a slight 20-17 lead after the first 10 minutes. The Wildcats started to pull away in the second quarter and grabbed a 14-point advantage, 41-27, which was their biggest in the first half. The Toros went into halftime trailing 43-30. Senior

Lea Anderson had six points each to lead CSUDH in the first half.

The Toros started the second half with an 8-2 run to cut the margin to single digits, 45-38, after a Henry jumper. It would be the closest CSUDH would get the rest of the way. Chico eventually opened up the gap to 23 points, 77-54, and cruised to a 15-point triumph.

CSUDH's next matchup will be a road matchup at Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 5:30 p.m.
