CARSON - The Cal State Dominguez Hills men's soccer team scored in each half to take down Stanislaus State by a final score of 2-0 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchup, Sunday at Dignity Health Sports Park Field #3.
The Toros collect three points and are now 1-1 in conference play, 2-4-1 overall. The Warriors drop to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in the CCAA.
CSUDH got on top early in the eighth minute as senior
Joshua Varon made a run inside the box and fouled. Junior
Josue Cartagena buried the subsequent penalty kick to the lower left corner of the net to give the Toros the 1-0 lead.
CSUDH got its second score in the 59th minute. Varon, in the middle, found junior
Alberto Carrillo running down the right side. Carrillo sent a cross in that found freshman
Cesar Rivera's feet and into the goal to give the Toros insurance.
In total, CSUDH outshot the Warriors 30-8, including 12-1 on shots on goal, and held an 8-1 advantage on corner kicks.
