No. 23 Simon Fraser Outlasts CSUDH in OT

LACEY, Wash. - The Cal State Dominguez Hills men's soccer team fell to 23rd-ranked Simon Fraser in overtime by a final score of 2-1 in a non-conference and neutral-site matchup, Friday at Saints Field on the campus of Saint Martin's.

The Toros drop to 0-3 on the season. The Clan improve to 2-1.

CSUDH scored first in the 28th minute. Junior Dani van Steijn served a ball from the left side that found freshman Christian Djurasevic's head and into the back of the net. The Toros were able to fend off SFU attempts for the rest of the period as they went into halftime up 1-0. The Clan held a 5-2 shot advantage in the first 45 minutes of play.

CSUDH nearly came away with another goal in the second half on two close opportunities. A shot by junior Bryan Rodriguez to the top corner was saved by SFU goalie Aidan Bain in the 57th minute and a 66th minute shot from Djurasevic rolled to the left of the post.

The Clan equalized in the 81st minute, with less than 10 minutes remaining in regulation from Jonathan Kisse, to force overtime. The Toros were able to get one shot off in the extra period, but it sailed off target. SFU ended the contest by netting the golden goal off a corner kick and headed by Marcello Polisi into the near post.

CSUDH will stay in Lacey to take on Saint Martin's on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 12 p.m.
