CARSON - Cal State Dominguez Hills split its California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) softball doubleheader with Cal State San Marcos, Friday at Toro Diamond. The Toros won the series opener, 6-4, before the Cougars came back to win the night cap by a final score of 4-3.

The Toros are now 26-17 overall and 20-16 in conference play. The Cougars are now 13-30 overall and 19-27 in the CCAA. CSUDH can secure a spot in the upcoming CCAA Tournament with two wins tomorrow.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- Down 3-1, CSUDH scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the lead. Senior
Damari Simon drew a walk to start the frame, took second on a ground out from sophomore
Kelcy Telles and went to third on senior
Jazmin Guzman's single. Freshman
Amanda Canizales drew a walk to load the bases and junior
Jessica Lane drew another walk to bring in Simon. Junior
Jade Loe hit a ball to left field to bring home Guzman and Canizales, and senior
Rachael Sandoval doubled to get Loe and Lane in for a 6-3 lead.
- CSUSM scored first in the third inning on a two-run home run. The Toros got one run in the bottom of the third on a RBI from Guzman.
- The Cougars got one run each in the fourth and sixth inning.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- CSUDH stranded 11 runners on base and fell by one run. The Toros had a monumental opportunity with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning with the bases loaded, but could not get runners across.
- CSUDH scored all of its runs in the bottom of the second. Sandoval and freshman
Kelly Monroy hit consecutive singles and Simon drew a walk to get the bases juiced. Telles reached on a fielder's choice that scored Sandoval. Guzman came through with a single to left field to bring in Simon and Monroy.
- The Cougars scored three runs in the first and one run in the second to account for the final score.
