Offense Silenced in Series FInale Loss to Stan State

TURLOCK – The Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team struck first on Stanislaus State's defensive miscues for the second straight game, but the Warriors answered back and took the series finale 5-2 at Warrior Field Saturday.

TOP PERFORMERS
Aaron Greenfield – 1-for-4, 2 RBI
Connor Dreyer – LP, 4 IP, 6 SO, 3 ER, 3 H, 3 BB
Humberto Chiquito – 4 IP, 1 SO, 2 R

WHAT HAPPENED?
- Much like game three of the series, the Toros (15-27, 14-26 CCAA) took advantage of a couple of Warrior (26-18, 22-16 CCAA) errors to plate two unearned runs. Greenfield knocked the two runs in with a two-out single to right.
- Dreyer, making his first start as a Toro, was perfect the first time through the Warriors lineup. But the second time became trouble for him in the fourth inning. Brandon De La Guardia broke the perfect game on one pitch with a leadoff home run and a pair of RBI hits gave the Warriors a 3-2 lead.
- The Warriors padded the lead with four straight singles drove in two runs to give them a 5-2 lead.
- Dominguez Hills' offense would be silent from the fifth inning on as the Warrior pitching combination of Brandon Scott and Matt Pulos would go perfect the rest of the way.

UP NEXT?
The Toros return home for the final time of 2019, hosting first-place UC San Diego Friday and Saturday. Both are at 3 p.m. The Tritons entered the week ranked No. in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and seventh in Collegiate Baseball.
