CARSON - It was a tale of two games as the Cal State Dominguez Hills softball team split a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) doubleheader against Sonoma State, Friday at Toro Diamond. The Toros won game one in six innings, 13-3, before falling in the second game, 10-2, also in six innings. The Toros are now 10-7 overall and 8-6 in conference play. The Seawolves are 5-7 overall and 3-4 in the CCAA.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- The Toros fell behind 2-0 to Sonoma State in the top of the first. CSUDH responded with a run in the bottom of the frame to make it 2-1. Senior
Damari Simon was hit by a pitch, advanced to third on a double from freshman
Amanda Canizales and came home on a sacrifice fly from senior
Rachael Sandoval.
- The Toros took the lead in the second. Sophomore
Chloe Wenger hit one over the left field fence to tie the game. Junior
Kendelle Messersmith was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a single from sophomore
Kelcy Telles. Both runners came in on Simon's home run over the left field fence as CSUDH took a 5-2 lead.
- SSU got one run in the top of the third before CSUDH scored two more in the bottom of the inning. Sanodval singled up the middle and touched home on Wenger's double. Freshman
Josie Sinkeldam pinch ran for Wenger and came home on a Telles' ground out.
- The Toros scored three runs in the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth, Wenger hit her second jack of the game to make it 8-3. Two more scored on a SSU error caused by Simon and a base hit RBI from Canizales. Junior
Chenoa Au homered to right center in the bottom of the sixth to close the contest.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- CSUDH scored first in the bottom of the second for a 1-0 lead. Senior
Jazmin Guzman singled, advanced to second on Au's sacrifice bunt, took third on a SSU error and scored on Loe's sacrifice fly.
- The Seawolves scored three in the fourth, five in the fifth and two in the sixth for a 10-1 advantage.
- The Toros scored one run in the bottom of the sixth, but it wasn't enough as SSU prevailed by eight. Guzman hit an RBI single to score Simon.
