Hatfield's Career-High 32 Points Help Get Toros Back on Track

CARSON – Mikey Hatfield scored a lifetime best 32 points and Colten Kresl recorded his first double-double as the duo helped pilot the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team to a 90-72 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) win over Cal State Monterey Bay at the Torodome Thursday night.

The Toros (11-9, 9-6 CCAA) sweep the season-series with the Otters (2-19, 2-14 CCAA).

TOP PERFORMERS
Mikey Hatfield – 32 points (career-high), 10-for-10 free throws
Colten Kresl – 14 points, 12 rebounds (career-high), 4 assists
Alex Garcia – 16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists

WHAT HAPPENED?
- The Toros had led the entire game but couldn't quite run away with the lead until the end. The Otters had got to within 65-59 under the nine minutes remaining in the game. Dominguez Hills would go on a 10-point run in the final 2:27 to run away with the win.
- Free throws most certainly helped the Toros in the win, going 20-for-23 on the line. The Otters had 14 trips, making 11 of them.
- Even though the Toros shot 47.5 percent (28-for-59) from the field, 14 of those field goals came from 3-point distance. The Otters finished 48.2 percent (27-for-56).
- Hatfield scored 17 of his 32 points in the second half, including six free throws.

Here's Hatfield following his career day:
