SAN BERNARDINO –
Tristan Garnett pitched a seven-inning gem and the Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team plated three runs in the eighth to take a 4-2 CCAA series-opening win over Cal State San Bernardino at Fiscalini Field Thursday night.
The Toros improve the 3-8 overall and 2-7 in the conference. The Coyotes, meanwhile, fall to 5-8 overall, 2-6 in the CCAA.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- Garnett reached new heights in only his third game as a Toro, going seven shutout innings with six strikeouts on a season-high 110 pitches. He even never let a runner reach second base.
- Greenfield put the Toros on the board with a solo shot in the fifth but the difference in the game was in the eighth.
Pierson Loska and
Jeremy Ciolek both singled and back-to-back doubles by
Domenic Colacchio and
Kaelan Crisosto scored in three to give the Toros a 4-0 lead.
- The Coyotes cut the deficit in half with two unearned runs in their half of the eighth.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Toros and Coyotes return to Fiscalini Field for game two of the series Friday at 6 p.m. The series will shift to Toro Field for the 9/7-inning doubleheader Sunday.
